Elected representatives in government are in charge of the policy and funding that can make or break saving threatened species. Their decisions and actions matter.
Lyons has or used to have 38 threatened animals within its boundaries. One of them is me, the Arthurs Paragalaxias.
We took care to attach appropriate images that are as close to representative of each species as our resources and the availability of images allowed. However, we could not ensure perfect accuracy in every case. Some images show species that share the same genus but not at the species or subspecies level.

Status: Endangered
The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) lists threatened species under six categories:

Arthurs paragalaxias is a small, bullet-shaped, freshwater fish, distinctively olive-green to golden in colour. This species is endemic to Arthurs Lake and Woods Lake on the Central Plateau, Tasmania. The population in Woods Lake declined to the point of extinction, however translocations from Arthurs Lake may help re-establish that population. Predation from brown trout and other alien fish and a barrier between the two lakes are the primary ongoing threats to the Arthurs Paragalaxias.¹
