Elected representatives in government are in charge of the policy and funding that can make or break saving threatened species. Their decisions and actions matter.

Lyons has or used to have 38 threatened animals within its boundaries. One of them is me, the Clarence Galaxias.

We took care to attach appropriate images that are as close to representative of each species as our resources and the availability of images allowed. However, we could not ensure perfect accuracy in every case. Some images show species that share the same genus but not at the species or subspecies level.

Galaxias johnstoni is only found within Lyons

The Clarence Galaxias is a small, stout, yellow-bellied, freshwater fish, endemic to central Tasmania. This species occurs only in isolated parts of the upper Derwent River catchment, where it is restricted to high altitude, freshwater habitats and is both lake and stream-dwelling. This species appears to prefer the shelter of rocks and boulders and adults have been observed moving from lagoons into inlet streams to spawn in spring.¹
