Elected representatives in government are in charge of the policy and funding that can make or break saving threatened species. Their decisions and actions matter.

Kennedy has or used to have 63 threatened animals within its boundaries. One of them is me, the Kowari.

We took care to attach appropriate images that are as close to representative of each species as our resources and the availability of images allowed. However, we could not ensure perfect accuracy in every case. Some images show species that share the same genus but not at the species or subspecies level.

The Kowari is a rat-size carnivorous marsupial. It is light grey-brown in colour and has a distinctive brush of black hair on the end of its tail. The limbs and the top half of the tail are white and they have a distinct white ring around each eye. It has large eyes, a pointed head and thin, sparsely-haired ears. Its ears and tip of the nose have a pink hue. This species grows up to 18 cm in length, with a tail length of up to 14 cm.¹
